Rob’s Blog (September 2023)

It’s certainly been a minute since I sat down in front of the laptop to get my thoughts down. As we head into the autumn, after an action packed summer I wanted to take a little bit of time to catch you up and let you know what's going on.

Its been hectic - our summer weekender was an absolute blast. Taking place over August bank holiday weekend, over 50 of you lovely lot made your way to Sheffield to celebrate with us. It was a wonderful occasion, marked by a fitting tribute to Stu Brear, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Personally, I was a little disappointed to not take home the Men’s football trophy for the 3rd time in a row but was pleased to take part in such a great match. The girls were awesome too and I hope you all had as much fun at the after party as I did - big thanks to Paul Lock and Joe Lee for their support in making it pop

But that’s not all we have been up to since we last caught up. We launched our pacing events at Jubilee 10k back at the start of summer. It was awesome to take part in and the turquoise army did me proud, pacing so many people to PBs. I am delighted to say that we have more events booked in October and then into 2024.

We also announced a partnership with Twisted Running, who have been amazing in supporting our vision of getting you all kitted out in WTF merch! Keep your eyes peeled for a full autumn range coming very very soon!

Our Summer ShowDown has been immense - over 150 of you took part in the 10 week challenge with plenty of new faces getting involved. I loved seeing new people getting to know each other and stepping out of their comfort zones. I am sad to see it end this week, but won’t be sad to hear the last of Ben’s bragging.

S12 launches in a few weeks in conjunction with our 3rd birthday. Can you believe it? 3 years of listening to me and that little moron waffle on. Thank you so much to everyone who has made up any part of the 84,000+ downloads to date. We have a massive, community themed series in plan so watch this space.

On a personal level, I haven’t run since our Fartlek Family Picnic in Milton Keynes back in July. After spraining my ankle, I have caused some serious ligament damage which still isn’t right. Its tough not running and disappointing to not be able to work towards the goals I set myself, but the support and love from you all has been wonderful and much needed - thank you to everyone who has taken time to check in on me, I see you and I appreciate you.

Plenty to come; pacing, meet ups, a Parkrun Cup just around the corner plus guests, bants and loads more Statman Jon. We know that we aren’t for everyone, but as long as you keep listening, we will keep making them.

May your runs always be runderful, be excellent to each other, be kind or get in the sea and I can’t wait to see everyone soon.
